The demonstration ended with a request to participate in a common prayer at the square, but only a few hundred did so, nearly all men.\n These protests did not just address Jyllands-Posten or Denmark but also promoted the organizations themselves in the ongoing power struggle between nationalist and Islamic movements in Palestine. [...] while the cartoons created a political platform on which Muslims could unite and form a dominant opposition, it is only through an exploration of the local political contexts that one can understand the timing and content of the continuous protests and attacks on Danish embassies worldwide.
