Helle Samuelsen is new chair of the Working Group for Development Cooperation at UCPH

The Working Group for Development Cooperation at the University of Copenhagen is very pleased to announce the appointment of Helle Samuelsen as new chair of the group. Helle Samuelsen replaces Niels Ehlers Koch, who left earlier this year for a position outside of the University.

Helle Samuelsen is newly re-appointed head of the department of Anthropology at UCPH. She is looking forward to chair the Working Group for Development Cooperation. - Developmental issues and cross-faculty cooperation are two areas of great interest to me. I look forward to get a chance to combine both in my new role as chair of the working group, says Samuelsen who among other things has been central in the creation of the new Masters in Global Development at UCPH, as well as the now well-established and very popular degree in Global Health.

In addition to being head of the department of Anthropology, Helle Samuelsen is also a member of the board for the Danish Institute for International Studies (DIIS), as well as a member of Danidas Council for Development Policy. As such, she carries experience within the development sector, and contributes to the integration of the Working Group for Development Cooperation into management level at the University, as well as with external actors.

Helle Samuelsen is looking forward to, in collaboration with The Working Group, develop a new action plan during 2015 to support The University of Copenhagen’s Strategy for Research, Education and institutional capacity in relation to developing countries.
