Anthropology in Copenhagen ranked #16 in the world
University of Copenhagen has the best anthropology department in Scandinavia and number two in Continental Europe according to the new QS World University Ranking
University of Copenhagen is the 16th best university in the world for anthropology according to the latest QS World University Ranking. In Scandinavia UCPH is number one and in Continental Europe QS ranks Copenhagen the second best university for anthropology, surpassed only by Amsterdam University.
2017 is the second year that QS World University Ranking includes anthropology as a discipline. With its 16th place our department of anthropology has moved four places up from last year, and is again one of the highest ranked disciplines at UCPH.
Strong international reputation
Head of Department at Anthropology Helle Samuelsen is very happy with the result.
- Being ranked as the 16th best anthropology department in the world is an outstanding achievement. This excellent position on the QS list indicates that we have a strong international reputation and that our research has a strong impact. I am very proud of our department. We do have an excellent group of researchers who publish with the best publishers and journals, and who engage enthusiastically in new and innovative research projects.
QS University Ranking has reached its conclusions by looking at research published in important international journals as well as by talking to leading researchers in various disciplines to get their opinion on who is strongest in their particular field of research.
At the top of the anthropology list is Harvard University followed by University of California, Berkeley and University of Cambridge in a shared second place.
